When you are Blind-sided by Life I believe I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. PSALM 27:13 Has anything ever happened to you that stopped you in your tracks? You were moving through life as normal—and then bam! Everything changes. It could be a sudden loss of a loved one, broken promises in relationships, a crippling illness, or financial ruin, etc. Whatever it is, we can immediately feel blind-sided and thrown off our spiritual gait. If we aren’t careful, we may doubt the goodness of God through our trial. We may wonder where He was when it happened. We may question His love for us because we thought God had our backside and would let us know when these things would happen. Truth is, God knew long before we were ever born that our specific trial would hit us hard. He could’ve sat us down and explained everything beforehand, but it doesn’t work like that in real life. When we put all of our trust in the Lord, it’s for every single moment including the worst of life experiences. He hasn’t deserted us because He promises to never leave nor forsake us. The Lord doesn’t take pleasure in our pain; rather, He uses it to grow us closer to Him and make us more like His Son, Jesus Christ. When we are blind-sided by life experiences, we have two choices: trust God or doubt God. If we choose to trust Him, then we surrender every hope and dream in our hearts at the foot of the cross. We release our expectations and assumptions about our future to God’s plan for our lives. In spite of our pain, we stand firmly on the Rock of our Salvation—Jesus Christ and His goodness. Our unfortunate events have zero impact on God’s goodness towards us. Keep trusting, keep pressing forward in prayer, and keep looking to Jesus! PRAYER Dear Lord, this situation hurts deeply and my faith has been weakened. Yet, I know that You are a good God and I set my hopes on You for better days. In Jesus’ name, amen. Pray everyone had a Great (stay at home) Mother’s Day. Love you all.
