Trivia:

Way to go Lindsay; The traditional dessert that is served on the 4th of July is Apple Pie. The background of this dessert was the crust was first brought from Dutch immigrants who taught Americans the delicious taste of flaky, buttery crust, then the colonists filled the crust with slices of apples and then German immigrants added sweet spices after which they baked this delicious delight.

Can you guess which iconic toy got its name from a pie company? Was it the Furby; Easy-bake oven; Frisbee; or the Slinky?

Challenge:

Psalm 32:1-7 "Oh what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the Lord." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement, For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. (deliverance)

Have you ever had a time when you felt something was wrong with a close friend, or felt an unusual, uncomfortable distance, from a friend who you have always, just clicked from day one of your relationship? When you were together you thought and felt the same about various instances. When you felt sad they were totally understanding about your feelings and shared in that conclusion?

The writer of this Psalm shared this very same closeness to God, upon his confession of his sinful condition and conduct. Then he evidently came to the same realization of his need for a uniting of spirit needed due to a sinful act or thought between He and God. The transformation that he had experienced earlier in his life upon his surrender to the Lord's leading and purpose, was harmed by his acts of iniquity.

I will never forget that experience I knew once I was introduced to an acquaintance with my Savior, as not just His created being, but rather as His child. Upon my surrender and submission to Him in my soul, my life purpose was altered. No longer was He just an outside force, or a foreign belief, now He was at one with my life. His desires were my desires. Once I acknowledged my sinfulness, and confessed my transgressions before my Lord, my iniquity was cleansed from my heart and mind and soul.

Then as verse 6 states it, my first response was to talk with my Lord, to come before Him as my hiding place, my life preserver, my deliverer. I found myself communioning with Him, speaking no longer as a foreign entity, but as a companion in a foreign place.

The desires of the world that I found myself living in had become foreign to my thinking. I all of the sudden, realized the barrenness of the world I had been comfortable in before this transformative change. I was faced with the world's trangressions and its misunderstanding of the relationship that they had no understanding or desire for.

Before this salvation experience, my life was sin covered, desirious of acts of iniquity to surround and control my life. However, after this transformation, my desires, and appetites were totally changed. I know that to those of us who have experienced this complete transformation, this discussion is totally understandable, but to those who have never come to that understanding, they still see this life we speak of as "a religious person".

They see the life of a christian as rather than a life of vitality, with life giving experiences, but rather as a life of duty, responsibility, necessary drudgery. So how do we pass this beautiful reality onto others?

GO WITH GOD my dear one, allow that change that you have experienced, which is comparable to the metamorphosis of the caterpillar undergoing a complete change in body development into a butterfly. From a caterpillar crawling around on the ground to being transformed into a butterfly which is capable of ascending through life with new spiritual desires. No longer anchored by gravity to the surrounding earth, but now able to ascend to new heights, purposes, desires. Free to ascend from lifes burdens to places of deliverance and victory.
