Way to go everybody you all got Buffalo Bills real name correct. The reason he was given his nickname was because he hunted buffalo to feed the rail road contruction crews with some 4,000 buffalo as the built rails across the plains. He also worked for the Pony Express at 14, then fought in the Civil War by acting as a scout for the army. His exploits became the story's spoken of in the dime novels, and then he developed a show which toured the country as "The Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show" for more than 30 years. Quite a colorful life he lived.
Challenge:
Ecclesiastes 12:10 "The Preacher sought to find acceptable (understandable) words; and what was upright-words of truth."
This morning we are reminded of the writers desire to guide us to all things of truth. When he spoke of upright words the greek renders them as literally "words of joy" as in delightful. In the Hebrew they were translated as "honest words of truth". Solomon rather than speaking pleasing words he sought to bring truthful, honest words. Many times truthful words aren't necessarily pleasing or delightful but they are life giving, faithful, consistent, and diligent in the long run.
When John Scott a Biblical scholar of the past, spoke of this he attempted to illustrated this passing on truth as a dog wrestling with a bone attempting to get every last morsel of meat removed from the bone. In the same way we should be attempting to communicate to others so that we may clearly comprehend truths in every way, in order that they may come its fullest understanding.
The second issue we must contend with is Satan's desire to constantly whisper in our mind and heart that we have no business, no right, no authority to comprehend and walk in this way of integrity. We are incapable of walking in all truth, Revelation 12:10 speaks of this war going on in our hearts and minds when it comes to truth being declared. It says, "Satan the accuser has been thrown down." For he daily is striving to accuse us of being sinners, unable to walk in purity, while Jesus says "No" this one has been made clean by my blood."
SO GO WITH GOD my dear one for His sacrifice for us has rendered us cleansed, complete, powerful, in His truth. Like a soldier being clad with his armor, we have been given the clothes of honor, nobility, and completeness. We no longer need to live in guilt, and struggle, but rather walk in the nobility of our Savior. He has made us worthy, capable to walk in His ways. As the song says "He has made us glad, we will come into His presence with thanksgiving in our heart."
Take a minute and listen to this song in YOUTUBE. Come into His presence - Don Moen you'll be uplifted by this truth.
