Did you know that if you laid out New York City transit tracks they would reach to Chicago, Illinois? Talk about getting off track, Haha. Oooooh.
Prov. 24:17,18 “Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble. For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger away from them.”
This warning is against gloating over the fall of those who are your enemies. This attitude is wrong, as well as, displeasing to God. Compassion is the most desirable gift we can give to others, regardless of their offense.
The natural fleshly response for those who have wronged us in the past is to joy in their failures. However, our response should be sorrow for their loss.
My mother used to say, “One evil can easily cause a chain reaction, so don’t let evil derail you.” Her encouragement was to cause evil from others to rather bring the attitudes of humility, kindness, and compassion.
Hurt & loss are difficult enough to overcome, without adding disgrace. So let’s set the example of Christ in our evil world.
So Go With God and do those thing that bring joy to His face. Graciousness, & compassion.
