Well howdy to you all it's Thursday another great day. Though we are expected here in Southern Cal. to experience excessive heat warnings.

By the way, Do you know when the most common month for a birthday is? Yep you guessed it September; in fact 9 of the 10 most popular dates are Sept. 9-20. Well so much trivia for birthdays.

Our meditation for today is found in

Prov. 21:24 "A proud and haughty man- "Scoffer" is his name; He acts with arrogant pride."

This proverb applies four different Hebrew words for arrogance

Proud & haughty -- means profoundly

Arrogant & pride -- means boundless

These four words are what is called an extreme opposite of humility.

We have noticed over our Proverbs

study, so far that pride to God is

harmful, to any man. Of course we know

that pride was Satan's downfall, along

with many other people who attained

power & influence in their lives.

In fact pride is mentioned more than 50

times in a negative sense.

Arrogance is also spoken of 50 times in

a negative sense. The primary

difference seems to be that pride can be

generally devoid of physical success.

While arrogance is generally in the

context of tangible physical success.

A person can be proud without any real demonstrations of success. It is more an inner attitude, while being haughty is seen in the atmosphere of proven success.

Pharaoh was haughty due to the great power of Egypt, while the young men who mocked Elisha in 2 Kings 2 were proud without any proven reason for pride.

So Go With God and then He will lift you up if needed. His honor is the truly lasting gain in life. When He lifts us up then pride & arrogance have no place for temptation for He is the giver we aren't the getter.
