Prov. 28:25 "He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered."
Well, Do you know what generally is the ultimate quality that causes conflict? Your right: Pride, putting our trust in our knowledge, rather than placing our confidence in God. In other words; To think we know better. That is exactly what Solomon & God agree on, "a proud heart".
James puts it this way, James 4:1 "What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don't they come from the evil desires at war within you?" We ask, Just what is that evil desire? Right, "I know best". Pushing others to agree with him. Just what is the inner urge that comes with pride? Well if we have watched children for very long, we have all seen this bare truth, I want it, I am right. Right? Oh; Right except for your perfect child, right? Ha, ha.
Solomon warned us of this heart condition in Prov. 13:10 "Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise." When we learn this vital lesson, as the TV show was titled, "Father knows best". then, we will become wise, and become prosperous. Time alone, will point out whether a decision is wise or foolish. So, once we learn to trust the Father of Time, (God) then we will prosper.
The world about us is slowly turning from a confidence in the Bible & God's ways, to psychology, "science", which is really foolishness, and the test is. What the affect is that this thinking has on the person who follows in it, Does it lead to harmony, peace, unity? Or to strife, conflict, selfishness? Well if it brings strife, it definitely is pride, that is at the wheel.
The prophet Jeremiah gave us this warning. Jer. 17:9 "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. ..." So any time that we wander away from God and His word it will always result in strife, and conflict. This is called the test of time. When we ask ourselves; Will this bring peace? We have our answer, for trusting in God will bring peace, rest, and even success.
So what the natural question should be, Do I want ultimate peace? The answer is always, Then I must trust in the God of peace.
So Go With God for He will cause peace & prosperity to rest on our lives. Have you noticed? The more our culture moves away from God & His word the more unrest conquers the day. The more foolish the thinking becomes.
Rest in Him, then as we read & meditate on His word, His wisdom will guide us to peace.
