Trivia:
Well I guess this riddle was a difficult one or maybe too deep, but Becky made a great guess.
What can't be kept until it is given? Though secret is an excellent answer I had a promise in mind.
Here's a brain teaser. The "Mikey Likes It" Do you remember which cereal was this commercial about? Cheerios; Rice Krispies; Raisin Bran; or Like . Make your guess.
On the lighter side:
Did you hear about the duck who was standing next to a busy road, cars were zooming past while he was waiting for a break in the traffic, a chicken walks up to him and says, "Don't do it, man. You'll never hear the end of it." Oh well it is Tuesday, Ha ha
Challenge:
Psalm 9:9,10 "The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you."
The word shelter here, in Hebrew is the word "misgav" which is describing a place with high walls, or a rocky fortress. Isaiah used this same word in which used it this way, "The rocks of the mountains will be their fortress". This is emphasizing the stable protection that our Lord provides for all of those in need.
The next expression that is found in the next phrase is "refuge" or a place of protection, shelter, etc. Since David was an outdoorsman he used images of geography to describe the protective care of God for His children. During his time of avoiding conflict with Saul, he and his army would avoid being seen by hiding in caves, in the shadow of a mountain, within the surroundings of trees and brush. They all knew the extent of God's protection from the enemies of Israel, as well as, Saul's army.
Verse 10 turns the corner to focus on the works of God in the children of God's lives in specific ways. "Those who know your name" The Jews placed great importance on this thought. When a child was given a name it was meant to describe that child's purpose, or mission in mind for their life. Usually their last name was describing their trade, but their first name was to describe their specific life purpose.
So you see, when the Psalmist speaks of the name "Lord God", it spoke of the one who is all powerful, ready to protect, guide, love, and provider of all things. It was for this reason that we can place our trust in His name.
That is why the last phrase is spoken, "For you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you". If we seek for His influence in our life He will be there for whatever we are seeking for. Is it shelter, food, water, compassion, as we go through this book we see listed the limitless provisions that He offers to us. How do we find for these needs to be met? We must search for Him.
This last week end we toured one of the hottest, driest places in our area, yes, Death Valley. We stopped at The Inn of Death Valley, we were surrounded with water ways coursing around the mountain, walkways in the mountain, pools, trees, yes, even golf courses. It was an Oasis in the middle of the desert. This illustrated for me the place that our Lord desires to offere in our lives, "an Oasis". You may be asking just how do I experience these many provisions for my life? "Take His name "Christian" and then search for His works in our life.
He wants to be our shelter, refuge, identity, etc. etc. etc. you name them, He wants to be all of these provisions in your life.
SO GO WITH GOD and He will usher all of these things into your life. He is your waymaker my dear one. All we must do is Search for Him.
