Well, in answer to yesterdays question, Do red haired people require more lidocaine for dentil procedures? That rumors is false. Now you know the many wives tales regarding red heads. They bring bad luck; they have fiery tempers; Well as one having a daughter who has red hair, and as mother who had red hair, and a grandmother, I can confirm all of those tales as false. All three of these wonderful women are all very logical and all are driven by compassion in so many ways. Lindsey, you can breath a sigh of relief, there's nothing to it. It is exactly that, a wives tale.

Prov. 30:11 "Some people curse their father and do not thank their mother."

In the proceeding four verses Agur gathers 4 characteristics of those who act in this way toward their parents. We will continue to look more closely this week on these warnings.

As we know in the Jewish culture one of the most wicked attitudes that a child can take on is the attitude of disrespect towards their parents, in fact the law says this:

5th Command -- Ex. 21:17 "Anyone who dishonors father or mother must be put to death."

Also Solomon stated in this book; Prov. 20:20 "If you insult your father or mother, your light will be snuffed out in total darkness."

The language of this verse is telling us, just; How God deals with those who disrespect their parents,

He (God) will snuff their lives out. Unfortunately, disrespect is caught not taught. In other words each

culture is responsible for their attitude towards the past generation.

So how do you conclude that this present generation as a whole treats the past generation? Kindly or disrespectful?

Notice Paul's warning to Timothy, who by the way was his father figure in the ministry.

2 Tim. 3:1,2,5 "You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful, They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving, they will slander others and have no self control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. .... Vs. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!"

As believers it is most important that we help our children & grandchildren catch the attitude of respectfulness toward their elders. Now, we can't answer for all of this generation, but we can for those around our immediate contact. Right?

You may say; How do we cause this attribute to be caught? By being respectful to those who are our elders.

To value their many contributions that we all enjoy. To respect the flag that they died for, to honor those people who called them to a greater good. But most importantly to offer on every level, respect for our God, for His love & sacrifice for each of us. To forever, give thanks for His immense suffering & death that He gave for us. To pass onto others in our life the precious gift that He gave for us. SALVATION

So Go With God for He loves us, He gave up everything for us. It is with that appreciation that we lay down our lives for Him. To tell others of His gracious gift, for all who will receive it. The priceless gift we have received. 2 Cor. 9:15 "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! ... this gift too wonderful for words! ... for His inexpressible gift! ... for His unspeakable gift!"

Go with Him my dear ones & He will draw from your actions those action that will result in helping this next generation to find respect for others. Stay near Him, draw close to Him each day & He will pour out of your life His gracious, loving spirit on others.

We also need to help our children to respect authority. By this I mean teachers, police, and even you as a parent or grandparent. Just as a young lady, I commanded respect from young suitors. Respect needs to be taught by not allowing disrespect without discipline.
