Trivia:

Way to go everyone, yes "yonder" is a term used by many hillbilly's which means "over there".

Here is another term many times used by farmers; What does the word "catawampus" mean? Straight; Polished; Soft; Askew?

Challenge:

Psalm 69:1-4 "Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck. 2 Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can't find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. 3 I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me. 4 Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs on my head. Many enemies try to destroy me with lies, demanding that I give back what I didn't steal."

This first part of the Psalm describes the great emotional and physical suffering that he faces amidst lifes greatest challenges. Total despair, deep feelings of overwheming circumstances, a sense of exhaustion, as well as, as a sense of total disdain, and alienation from those you thought to be your friends and allies.

This passage describes figuratively the struggle that we sometimes feel when we are facing internal struggles that seem to be impossible to overcome. When we attempt to come to the aide of others who are exhausted with their feeling of sinking in what seems to be impossible circumstances.

This passage reminds me of a time when I came upon a young horse that while walking across the ice to escape island, suddenly the ice shattered and he was unable to escape the muddy mire that was over his head. This young colt was overcome by his fear. I attempted to calm his despair by talking calmly from the shore, but to no avail. I could tell he was nearing exhaustion from this extreme exertion, so the only way to help this young horse was to get in the cold water and hold onto him and join him in the struggle. As soon as I joined him and put my arm around him and began to move towards the shore line, he began to sense my calmness. We together began to move to shallower ground and he began to regain an inner calm.

For many years to come when I would ride this strong, powerful horse, and then give this young stallion, some grain, we would together share from that struggle in his youth. He would nuzzle me, and whinny to me, for we had shared in a time of fear and struggle together, that he sensed would have overcome him and maybe even caused him to drown. I noticed that this experience had caused this young horse to become much more gentle and caring to the other younger horses in the herd.

SO GO WITH GOD for He will share with you at the times in your life that seem physically impossible to walk through. The Psalmist is here guiding us to just who can brings us through those times of despair, uncertainty, and those floodwaters that we are facing. He will come alongside us and bring comfort, compassion, and calmness, when we face what seem to be impossible, when our feet slip, and the water appears to be unyielding.

Call out to Him my dear one, for He will guide through that mire you are trudging through right now. Rest in His strength, His wisdom, and His certainty, He will walk you through this period of time, and as you look back He will remind you of the fact that in that time you were not alone, He was right there with you all of the time.
