My fellow believer yesterday we learned about God’s love for us and today we want to dive deeper into Eph. 3:17-19 “Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
This verse tells us just how God blessed us with His love. The King James translates it this way “And that you, being rooted and grounded in love ...” This is talking about an eternal relationship with our Father, not as a result of our effort but as a result of His gift to us. The word rooted or in Living translation Your roots will grow down into God’s love — rooted is a word used in the botanical world as to a plant growing deep to find a permanent source of water— while grounded is an architectural word emphasizing the permanent, firm foundation of love.
To go deeper on your own take a look at Rom. 5:5 & 2 Thess. 3:5 both talk about the fact of God’s love being instilled in the heart of the true believer. (never to be walked away from or ignored) It is Gods eternal gift, not a fake emotion needing a stirring or self-discipline to maintain.
Love is, as it were, the bedrock of every true believer. We’ve all heard others talk about their seeming childhood conversion which they walked away from never to return. That thinking has no seeming connection to this sort of sincere love for it is a continuous action of growth which may ebb & flow but it , non the less, remains. It is living, foundational to our very existence which we will never fall away from.
Remember that this love isn’t speaking of our love for Him rather it is talking of His love for us which we are never desirous of ignoring or resistant too.
Tomorrow we will learn of another facet of this Fatherly love.
So Go with God and He will fill, enrich your heart with this eternal love.
