Challenge:
Psalm 89:21-26 "I will steady him (David) with my hand; with my powerful arm I will make him strong. 22 His enemies will not defeat him, nor will the wicked overpower him. 23 I will beat down his adversaries before him and destroy those who hate him. 24 My faithfulness and unfailing love will be with him, and by my authority he will grow in power. 25 I will extend his rule over the sea, his dominion over the rivers. 26 And he will call out to me, You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation."
Let's now see just how God cared for David and His chosen people.
He purposed to bring stability to the nation with His powerful oversight, making their leaders to be thoughtful in their leadership.
He then gave them wisdom to overcome the other wicked leaders that surrounded them. Our enemy Satan only looks out for himself, which in turn causes everyone to be the enemy, which in turn causes no national allegiance to each other.
This in turn causes everyone to be in conflict with everyone else. Hateful behavior is never encouraging to bring about unity and common interest to others, which results in disunity and hardship. At the same time when common civility is passed along to their neighbors this naturally brings unity and benefit to everyone.
In verse 24 God covenants to be faithful, loving and contributes strength to the nation. These qualities are the very basis of wisdom that comes from God which also always brings great benefit to the people who share this inventive nature with others. Unity is a fertile ground that brings so much creative force to all people. When the farmer cooperates with the livestock herder then everyone is brought benefit. When the industrialist works together with the laborer then products are developed which bring benefit to everyone, etc.
Notice verse 25 how it was God who brought the ability to become dominant even in the waters, seas, and rivers. One of the great accomplishments that David was able to develop was taking the salt laden water oceans and creating fresh water from it. This brought great benefit to the farmer in order to grow crops even through times of drought. Then also David developed aqua ducts to bring water to otherwise dry desolate land. However, for this to come about, farmers needed to allow this water to take valuable fertile land to allow this water to traverse across his land. This ultimately brought about a constant source of water to everyone which benefited everyone.
Finally this cooperative spirit brought about great benefits to the lands. Much of these qualities of sharing and working together were the qualities that were the natural result that obeying the commands of God brought to Israel. The result of these many benefits caused the people to recognize God's blessings on them through following His instructions.
SO GO. WITH GOD my saints and He will bring to your life many blessings that were not understood nor recognized, but will none the less bring to pass; salvation, strength, wisdom, compassion and many multiples of blessings. For the hand of God brings blessing that are unimaginable. As we look about our own country we are reminded of the many blessings that come to us as a result of following in His ways.
