How Do We Know There Is A God?

Trivia:

The Irish people began the tradition of carving the Jack-o’-Lantern out of turnips. They believed that by carving these lanterns it would ward off evil spirits and protect their homes. When they imagrated to America they found pumpkins more abundant and easier to carve so they began using pumpkins and they continue to today.

Which well-known chain has only one remaining location? Toys “R” Us; Radio Shack; Block Buster; Borders Book Store?

Challenge:

Psalm 104:5-9 “You placed the world on its foundation so it would never be moved. 6 You clothed the earth with floods of water, water that covered even the mountains. 7 At Your command, the water fled; at the sound of your thunder, it hurried away. 8 Mountains rose and valleys sank to the levels you decreed. 9 Then you set a firm boundary for the seas, so they would never again cover the earth.”

Today there is much concern spoken of regarding global change by many people who speak of their great scientific knowledge. But the one fact they fail to understand is that our eternal God controls all of these things. The All Powerful God has spoken these words of instructions throughout the Bible. So as we read this passage and many verses throughout the Bible we see, that ultimately God is the controller of all of creation.

It is as God instructed Adam and Eve in the beginning that we are to tend it, (care for it). But in all of reality we are unable to control the universe, for He created it and He is faithful to control it. We see this evidenced through the uniform, consistent, order that He maintains by the daily rising of the sun, and His use of the moon and stars to give us muted light to bring order to, even the night sky’s. So that all of creation may enjoy the needed rest to energize itself for a new day.

These words of verses 5-9 begin by declaring to us that God was in charge of creating the universe, and that He proves His ability to continue this control. He lays out the fact that we need to place our trust in Him, since the very foundation of the world has not been moved since He placed it there.

He then according to the Gen. 6:17 tells us that God demonstrated His power over His creation by clothing the earth with water. even to the very highest mountain. Then in verse 7 He reminds us that He commanded the water to recede, and then He caused the proper heighth of the mountains to rise and the valleys to recede to the levels that He chose in order to prove His ability to care for us.

Then He finally, set a firm boundary for these seas to remain at and ordered that they never cover the earth again. Guess what; it still rises and falls at His commands through the sun and moons order.

This Psalm will go on to give us more evidence of His existence, and His ability to control all of these things, including the parts of the universe that we know very little about yet. The following verses that we will read from in this chapter will continue to declare to us the evidence of His ability to continue His control over these things, but the primary message that we are left with are found in verse 34 “Let all my thoughts be pleasing to Him. for I rejoice in the Lord.”

SO GO WITH GOD for He is worthy of our trust in Him, He proves it everyday, when the sun brings light to our part of the world each and Every Day. Rest in His presence, love, and care, my dear one.

Tomorrow we will continue to look at many more reasons for us to live resting in Him.
