Trivia:

Well happy Monday everyone. The popular Italian dish that translates into "Little Worms" in English is ... Vermicelli. Way to go everyone.

Here's a blast from the past. What comedy routine made Abbott and Costello famous? Was it there, Two tens for a five; Who's on first; Susquehanna Hat Company; or Jonah and the whale? Make your guess.

Challenge:

Psalm 44:1-8 "O God, we have heard it with our own ears--our ancestors have told us of all your did in their day, in days long ago: 2 You drove out thr pagan nations by your power and gave all the land to our ancestors. You crushed their enemies and set our ancestors free. 3 They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory. It was your right hand and strong arm and the blinding light from your face that helped them, for you loved them. 4 You are my King and my God. You command victories for Israel. 5 Only by your power can we push back our enemies; only in your name can we trample our foes. 6 I do not trust in my bow; I do not count on my sword to save me. 7 You are the one who gives is victory over our enemies; you disgrace those who hate us. 8 O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name.

By the way, do you know what a Maschil Psalm is? Well, in answer to my question, it is a song meant to inspire and at the same time illuminate those who were from the present generation as to God's many provisions for God's chosen people of the past. This Psalm was believed to have been written during the days of prophet Hezekian, when the powerful Assyrian army was beginning at the north end of Israel and working their way south with the intention of conquering the entire nation including Jerusalem.

Just imagine in this chapter of Psalm the children of Korah are singing the stories that Hezekiah had declared. The stories of their reflection of the past, of God's testimony. This Psam reminds them and us of the importance of sharing with others, God's intervention of the evil intentions of godless people of the past and the workings of God's works for you His people today. When we meditate on this then we are reminded of just why we should take courage when we are under attack on all sides.

After singing verse 3 "They did not conquer the land with their swords ... It was your right hand and strong arm and the blinding light from your face that helped them" Then the chorus rings out, "You are my King and my God. ... Only by your power can we push back our enemies; only in your name can we trample our foes."

Before ending this thought, lets camp for a minute on this phrase, "Your right hand" for to ignore this thought would be ignoring the primary thought of this Psalm. Do you realize that this phrase is spoken 169 times in the Bible? Let's think about this for a few minutes. Each of these times it is spoken to emphasize the intentionality of God in His care for us and others. I charge you to read through each of these passages throughout the scriptures. For the primary emphasis to us is, the trust worthiness of our God. It is no wonder that the chorus is, "You are my King and my God."

SO GO WITH GOD my dear one for He is not just your King, but more importantly He is your God. Ruler over all things, past, present, future, behind you before you, over you, under you, around you. As the present saying goes, "He's got this." Rest in His care, He won the victory for His children, and He will win the victory for you my dear struggling one. He knows what the future holds and He holds your hand and will never let go.
