Happy Monday to you my fellow believer. Here’s a question for you, How does the taco bless the table? Yep, you guessed it “lettuce pray”. Oh well, it’s Monday don’t expect anything to funny!!!
Our meditation for today is found in Prov. 18:9 ”He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.”
The word slothful means much more than lazy. It speaks of the person who is “known to be a slackerd”
In other words is known to cut corners, or do things only half right, take the easy way out. Many times this sort of effort “slothful” is not diligently performing a task, and may result in you feeling like the day has been wasted. The slothful person many times allows hardship, or difficulty to halt him from completing a task or bring it to a sloppy completion.
Look at the next part of the verse, “Is a brother to (is related to) him who is a great destroyer”.
Leaving our work half done or poorly done many times results in destruction or at very least dishonor to our Heavenly Father.
My Great Uncle John is a strong reminder to me of the outcome of slothfulness. My great, great grandfather was a gunsmith for wealthy people in Germany, he built many guns and inlaid gold insignia in the stock of many of them. He wanted the oldest child of each succeeding family member to inherit one of these guns.
My great uncle would say almost like clock work as we were getting in the car to make the long trek home, “Well you know Junior (my dad) I was hoping to go through Great Grandpas guns and pick out one for you and Benny. Well maybe next time, unfortunately his house caught on fire and destroyed all those beautifully fashioned guns before any of the Markley kids received even one of those keepsakes.
So Go With God and He will strengthen you to complete even the most menial task to become a meaningful treasure for others. Remember, 1 Cor. 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.”
