Trivia:

Can you guess which Crayola color the consumers voted to save from retirement? Blizzard Blue; Mulberry; Magic Mint; or Burnt Sienna. Let's see if you can guess better than me.

Challenge:

Psalm 59:11-17 Don't kill them, for my people soon forget such lessons; stagger them with your power, and bring them to their knees, O Lord our shield. 12 Because of the sinful things they say, because of the evil that is on their lips, let them be captured by their pride, their curses, and their lies. 13 Destroy them in your anger! Wipe them out completely! Then the whole world will know that God reigns in Israel. 14 My enemies come out at night, snarling like vicious dogs as they prowl the streets. 15 They scavenge fior food but go to sleep unsatisfied. 16 But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. 17 O my strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love."

In this section of verses David lays out several important concerns for his nation:

Israel doesn't learn its lessons when they are protected without them experiencing suffering

Evil nations need to personally experience first hand the great power of God in their lives

In order to change their actions people need to be humbled by recognizing their own pride,

harshness, and lies

When there is no other solution God will wipe out the wicked ones of the world if there is no other

option

Upon Him punishing those who are evil, the entire world will awaken to God's power and control of

their world

Those who rebell against God and refuse to follow His correction, will end up unable to find any

satisfaction from their evil ways

But those who have experienced God's enlightenment and then follow Him will experience the joy,

unfailing love, continual protection, and safety.

These ultimate truths are the treasures that can be ours when we come before the Lord and purposefully, and humbly walk in His ways.

David ends these verses with these thought's that have illuminated his mind;

O my strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.

SO GO WITH GOD for we can only experience real satisfaction, joy, and solace when we come to resting in Him, obeying His commands, and praising Him for His power and direction. The promises of this world will only bring a deep hunger, sleepless dissatisfaction, uncertainty, and destruction. So as David learned our only strength, peace, joy, and unfailing love comes from our surrender to Him, and then our walking in His ways.
