TRIVIA:

Way to go everyone you all got day afterday's trivia question right. The correct answer to "31 Flavors" as being Baskins & Robbin's.

Sorry I missed yesterdays blog but was distracted by taking Becky to the airport, keeping the food cold that had been in our garage feezer, as well as, dog sitting 5 dogs, etc.

Which city did the first ice cream parlor open in our country? Philadelphia; New York; Oakland; Fredericksburg. Make your guess.

Challenge:

Psalm 26:9-12 "Don't let me suffer the fate of sinners. Don't condemn me along with murders. Their hands are dirty with evil schemes, and they constantly take bribes. But I am not like that; I live with integrity. So redeem me and show me mercy. Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord."

In Psalm 15:5 we were taught that the Jewish people prone to take bribes were seen as a perversion of justice, and was grounds for not even being allowed in the temple. (Exodus 23:8, Proverbs 17:23) Notice that committing evil schemes, taking bribes, along with committing murder were all placed in the same category. They all were all considered acts that were considered being a people living with a lack of integrity.

The fruit of integrity was living in a way that disdained bribery, physical violence, and scheming to trick others, along with a disregard for integrity, being merciless, and even failing to offer praise to the Lord. To ignore these practices were the signs of needing to ask for mercy from the Lord.

In 2 Samuel 21:1 we were thought to recount the need for King David to seek the Lord's forgiveness for failing to honor Joshua's treaty with the Gibeonites, by Saul's slaying these people. They experienced a three year drought for breaking Joshua's vows four hundred years earlier, therefore David made amends to the Lord for Israel's failure all of these years earlier.

In this Psalm David affirms his desire to live a life of integrity, and to strive to redeem his nations failures of the past. He talks of that in verse 11 "So redeem me and show me mercy." and "I will publicly praise the Lord."

Imagine just how different our world would be if we lived lives of integrity to the level that David held himself accountable. When extreme weather was present to his nation, He set out to seek the Lord's forgiveness for past sins, and his desire to make right all failures of the past, and then once recognizing the failure to live with integrity in the ways that are honoring to God, he asked for mercy, redemption, and cleansing, then he publicly rendered thanksgiving and praise to the Lord.

Unfortunately, in this age of grace, we fail to stop and come before the Lord with a proper spirit of repentance, confession, and contrition. I say, we, but really I need to say, I fail to stop and recognize my failure to come before the Lord with proper humility. This passage reminds me of my need to come before the Lord with the proper level of reverence. To strive to live out my life of integrity, and yes, mercy, for others, and most importantly to loudly demonstrate my spirit of praise for God.

SO GO WITH GOD my faithful one, walk with a heart that is desirous for these qualities to be ever present in our lives.
