Day before that was; Which US states motto was, United We Stand, divided we fall" It was Maine.
Well two days ago's answer was, Which insect is the strongest insect? The answer was the Horned Dung Beetle. Who would have thunk it?
Hope that catches everyone up!
While yesterday's question was; Which state opened up the first public school in the U.S.? If you guessed Boston you were right. The Boston Latin School was established in 1635 just 15 years after the city was founded. Its purpose was to educate children to be able to read and understand the Bible.
Here's a question for those younger rock music enthusiast's. Which major rock band is the longest-running band without a lineup change? Is it The Rolling Stones; Z Z Top; The Who; or The Beach Boys? Make a guess & we'll hear more next week.
Saturday 9/9
Eccl. 4:10 "If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."
Well just yesterday at Kamden's football game an elderly man in a wheelchair slid off his chair, his wheel ran into a sprinkler head and tipped him over, it took four strong men to pick the man up. I was reminded of our verse for today. Everyone gathered around the man and lovingly picked him up, he was so grateful for everyone's assistance. The coaches of two football teams were off duty fire men so they led in the attempt to help lift the embarrassed man.
If you remember yesterday we learned the first benefit of two people working together was a life of success. Now today we see the benefit of sharing together is help when someone falls or falters. As we witnessed yesterday and the collective help of men assisting an elderly man, and his joy at others helping him get up.
They lifted him up, then they guided his wheel chair to his car and helping him get into his car and the offer of following him back to his home. He was overwhelmed with all of the willing assistance of these men. They refused to be dismissed, but insisted on following him home, to help him get cleaned up, and back in a comfortable seat at home.
In the middle of the conversation their care & concern for him was made obvious, they introduced themselves and then right there set up assistance for him in the coming weeks, so he could watch his grandson's future games.
He was apologizing for their inconvenience & they were stepping out to render aide in the future, apologizing for not coming to his aide sooner. They found that they were neighbors & were anxious to assist the man in the future games. They gave him a bottle of water, wiped his perspiring forehead, cleaned his hands, and even rendered first aide to his leg. The care for him was a dynamic thing.
Many times our state makes a bad impression, but this group of people were certainly the opposite of our states reputation. We were observing this outpouring of care from a distance, but it was heartwarming.
We should never forget that others around us are not just physically in need but also are sometimes emotionally or spiritually in need. That event brought me back to the days when Eddie was alive, he would always on his way out to the parking lot, set down at the table in the fellowship hall, get a cup of coffee and just be available to talk about the sermon, or cares of others, he would sip his coffee and be receptive to just visit, most service times he would remain there for 30 minutes or so.
Many conversations would begin there & lead to others interspersing their lives with each other. Sometimes, it was discussing lessons learned, or needs in the future. Eddie was always ready to talk about life, his, or others who were drawn to him. He had no agenda, just the sharing of "life". I remember our last visit to his home, he knew his death was near and his question was, "Pastor, where should I be reading in my Bible?" "I need some preparation for heaven."
So Go With God for He just like those men at the park, or Eddie at the table, are ready to share with us His assistance through all of our times of need. He has promised to lift us up, no matter the day, the time, or the need. He is with us. I overheard those men at the park say this, He (Father God) has sent us to lift you up our brother.
He will also lift you up, and send others to do the same for you, rather than refuse His help, rest in His care my dear one. He joys in being there, just for you. When you feel overwhelmed, fallen, or whatever He wants to be there & send others to be there as well. Don't be too proud to call out & receive those that He sends.
In the news yesterday a man was exploring in a cave and got lost, a small group of men determined to find him. They found him & rendered aide, he had become helpless, unable to find his way out. With just the attempt & these men's care he was given hope. They are yet working to get him out and to his home, but just their presence brought him out of hopelessness, and despair. He called out & our Father sent His hands to his side for comfort & care.
Call on Him & He will surely answer. Never forget, He is just a whisper away.
Rolling stones, that was Richards guess. Ill go with him, he is more musically inclined than me.
