Well Happy Thursday to you. Hey, I have a question. Do you know at what temperature the Fahrenheit & Celsius measurement both match? Well you are right it is at -40 degrees. They both have different 0 degrees but they match at -40 degrees. That’s quite a puzzle. Did you know that we are 1 of 3 countries still using the Fahrenheit scale? You ask why? Because we haven’t adopted the metric system. Well so much for Nerdsville discussion. Ha ha
Our meditation for today is found in Prov. 20:16 “Get security from someone who guarantees a stranger’s debt. Get a deposit if he does it for foreigners.”
In order to understand this bit of honey (wisdom) we must understand the difference between the definition of stranger & foreigner.
Stranger- someone who is not a
natural born citizen of
your country but has
taken the steps to
become a citizen
Foreigner-a person presently
living in your country
but has no intention of
becoming a citizen
Notice the instruction is:
to charge interest and require a
security for your loan extended
to a stranger, or for a stranger.
to require a deposit,(secured
loan) something of equal value
to loan, as well as, interest for a
foreigner, or on behalf of a
Three concepts referred to here is 1) don’t charge interest to a
2) do charge interest to a
stranger (non Jew) and require
a security deposit (coat, ring)
3) do require interest & a deposit
of equal value to your loan to a
foreigner (gold crown, sheep
In other words the principle set out here:
1) it isn’t ungodly to require
2) commitment to a nation has
direct connection to how a
person is extended trust.
If we as individuals & a nation we’re to follow these principles it would be a much more secure world.
So Go With God and He will uphold your concerns for your secular investments. These principles are a testimony of how we should be committed to our treatment of worldly concerns. They are also a reminder of how our concerns for this life are directly connected with our testimony to the unbelieving world.
So take seriously your handling of the present age for it is a
reflection on our eternal viewpoint.
