Remembering The Faithfulness Of God
Trivia:
Well believe it or not the ancient remedy that is made from the willow tree is Aspirin. The willow bark is still used to formulate today’s aspirin. The bark contains salicin which is the active ingredient used in aspirin.
Which controversial ingredient is occasionally used to top apple pie? Salt; Olive Oil; Pepper; Cheddar Cheese? Make your guess.
Challenge:
Psalm 105:1-12 Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever. 2 Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord? Who can ever praise Him enough? 3 There is joy for those who deal justly with others and always do what is right. 4 Remember me, Lord, when You show favoritism to your people; come near and rescue me. 5 Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones. Let me rejoice in the joy of your people; let me praise You with those who are your heritage. 6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned. We have done wrong! We have acted wickedly! 7 Our ancestors in Egypt were not impressed by the Lord’s miraculous deeds. They soon forgot His many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against Him at the Red Sea. 8 Even so, he saved them—to defend the honor of His name and to demonstrate His mighty power. 9 He commanded the Red Sea to dry up. He led Israel across the sea as if it were a desert. 10 So He rescued them from their enemies and redeemed them from their foes. 11 Then the water returned and covered their enemies; not one of them survived. 12 Then His people believed His promises. Then they sang His praise.”
Today I would like to go back to verse 2 and reflect on the phrase, “Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord? Who can ever praise Him enough?”
Next the writer went on to reflect just how many ways that His God showered His love on the chosen people of Israel and in fact were also given to him. For he recognized that each of these miracles that they received were also actually given to him.
In the same way that His Father rewarded them when they dealt justly with others, He had also rewarded him. When the Lord showed favor on the nation of Israel that favor was promised to Him as well. When His God rescued these people, He also was faithful to rescue Him.
Notice in verse 6 he reflects on the fact that he also just as Israel had done he also forgot to be thankful to God for His faithfulness to him, and in fact turned away from obeying Him.
He was reminded of the faithful response that God demonstrated toward both he and Israel. In verse 10 He/God rescued them from the worlds most powerful army, and allowed them to cross the sea on dry ground.
Verses 12 then this powerful hand of God brought them to their senses and they then began to recognize the fact that their God was faithful to honor His promises, Then finally they sang praises to God.
SO GO WITH GOD my dear one. Why not take time to remember the many promises that He has fulfilled thus far in your life. Start with yesterday and give Him thanks for the blessings of yesterday.
How about His provisions of good friends, family, and His loving ministry in your life? Let’s begin there …
