Psalm 104:25-35 “Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both large and small. 26 See the ships sailing along, and Leviathon, which you made to play in the sea. 27 They all depend on you to give them food as they need it. 28 When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are richly satisfied. 29 But if you turn away from them, they panic. When you take away their breath, they die and turn again to dust. 30 When you give them your breath, life is created, and you renew the face of the earth. 31 May the glory of the Lord continue forever! The Lord takes pleasure in all He has made! 32 The earth trembles at His glance; the mountains smoke at His touch. 33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! 34 May all my thoughts be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the Lord. 35 Let all saints vanish from the face of the earth; let the wicked disappear forever. Let all that I am praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”
Just stop to think for a minute with me. What is it that draws so many people to be drawn to the beach? Is it the sand, or the sea, or is it the sun? Of course all of these are a vital part of going to the ocean, but for me it is the rushing water, the traces of all of these living animals that I see, all of the life that is present. The sea crabs, the presence of sea gulls, as well as, all of the variety of animals, that nestle in the sand, and swim in the sea.
Isn’t it all of these things that are the reason that we are drawn to the beach? The teaming life that we witness there, are the many things that draw us to visit the beach. The sound of the wind and waves, rushing around us, the tides coming and going, the sand listfully lying on the surface of the beach. Just think for a minute, all of these things are evidence of God’s presence on this earth.
When we go to the beach regardless whether it is here in California, Florida, or the Bahamas, and even in the Canadian shores. I am amazed with the vast presence of life that surrounds me. This is what he writer is attempting to lay out for us. The existence of the present vast number of creatures, all declare the extreme power, and workings of God in our world.
Finally, after witnessing all of these many evidences of God’s ability to create, provide, guide, and care for His creation, then we should ask ourselves; Why should we fear? Rather our focus should be as verse 33 declares. “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath!”
SO GO WITH GOD for just this part of God’s creation, the ocean, is proof that He cares for you, and that He is capable of providing you with the simple, small daily needs of your life along with the massive, unfathomable needs that lie before us. When we set on the beach and look over all of this vast creative work and the daily care that our Mighty God provides to all of these life forms represented there, the myriad of beings present. It has a way of putting His works and provisions in perspective.
Once we gather all of these thoughts together in one section of scripture, we just see why the writer ends with these words. “Let all that I am praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”
