Well you all got the correct answer to the time when bell-bottom pants became most popular. It was the 1970's of which Sonny & Cher helped popularize these fashion styles. They, the pant style that is, became so popular that they became a status symbol of coolness, in that time period.

On the lighter side:

I told my suitcases there would be no vacation this year, now I'm dealing with emotional baggage.

I told them not to get carried away. Ho Ha

Psalm 14:1-7 Only fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!

The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; He looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.

But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn't think of praying to the Lord. Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey Him.

The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the Lord will protect His people.

Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the Lord restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.

In this Psalm we see an apt description of those who are destined to foolish living.

  1. they become corrupted - word used for rotten, depraved

2. they chose to do bad harmful things when it would be more beneficial to carry out good

3. they slowly turn to foolish, unprofitable dealings, which ultimately bring themselves harm

4. they even determine to bring destruction to those who would naturally bring benefit to them

5. the ultimate outcome will bring their destruction, loss, harm, and to top it all off, emptiness

Well we must admit this doesn't paint a very optimistic outcome for those who ignore God.

This passage without speaking about the benefits that come to those who follow after God, without even saying a word, lift up those who desire to walk with Him. Then as we look at these words we see just how blessed are those who walk honestly before the Lord.

In our present day we can't help but compare these two groups and recognize the difference that they picture for us. Wisdom vs Foolishness; corruption vs purity; harm and loss vs blessings and benefit; here just to name a few of the comparisons are clearly definable.

SO GO WITH GOD for His ways are rich, pure, and blessed. True this way is not the easiest way, but it truly is the most enriching for our lives. I'ts the life of a rich legacy. O my dear ones guilt, shame, loss, and destruction have no place in the lives of us His children as we walk with Him.

In my last words with my dad we talked about his life, his eyes cleared, and for a moment he told me of his most current thoughts. He said this, "I have no regrets in all of the ways that I've followed after God." This was the very last time he called me his son, he said, "Son, If you continue in this way you will also end your life with no regrets."

Then the shade of dementia closed and those thoughts were gone. I had prayed that morning before driving to see dad for what I thought may be my last time with him, for that sort of opening in his thoughts. And graciously our faithful Lord brought that special time for a few moments. It brought me back to my youth when dad & I studied through the book of Proverbs. We sat at his desk and read through these words. "No regrets". David is emphasizing for us this same truth. Cling to these thoughts my dear ones, for they stand true to their words.
