Trivia:

What did the letters on the first license plates on cars represent? The owner's initials. The city and state of the owner. The make and model of car. Or were They randomly chosen? Make a guess.

On the lighter side: This one is especially for Richard & Jen. How do cats make a birthday cake? Well from scratch, of course. When I heard this I thought of you guys.

Challenge:

Ecclesiasted 10:14 "A fool also multiplies words. No man knows what is to be; Who can tell him what will be after him?"

Solomon here in this verse is reminding us that our words reflect on our outlook in life. If we look only on the present world, with no thought of what comes to those we love after we're gone. What ever your mindset is you have is passed on, by the way you have lived and spoken.

He left this verse for his sons to remember and attempted to give influence in their lives for their children and the nation. In another verse Proverbs 15:2 "The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness."

The wise person pays great attention to the filling of his mind and heart with God's eternal wisdom, while the foolish ones only says words to make himself appear to be important.

Solomon ended this verse with a rhetorical question, "Who can tell him what will be after him?" That thought emphasizes the foolish persons outlook. Due to the fact that he is puffed up with himself he wastes his time being guided by his lack of knowledge. This is evidently an important thought to focus ourselves on also because it is repeated many times in this book. Ecclesiastes 3:22; 6:12; 8:7; 9:12 and finally in this verse 12:14.

The foolish one doesn't stop talking, he just continues to talk, chatter on, blah, blah, blah, as if he knows everything, but actually he has no inkling of what is to come later today or even tomorrow. His conduct is something like the rich young fool in Luke 12:18,19 who experienced a level of success and then forgot just who also shared in that success. That is was also partially as a result of being blessed by God. (rain, sun, earth, etc.) Then James 4:15 advises us to take on a more fruitful godly outlook "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that."

Solomon is warning us not to listen to those people who think so highly of themselves that as the quaint saying goes, "They don't know when to come out of the rain."

SO GO WITH GOD for He knows just what today holds, and what to direct our future plans towards. For He knows the future events in our lives, and what we should focus on presently and just how to move forward in the coming days. To plan as the rich young man did in his own strength, taking no regard for our loving, gracious, all knowing Father is a total waste of our life.

By the way, please pray for my baby sister Susan, her husband Stan passed away yesterday at home, from a long illness. She has faithfully served him in his life and their faithful life of service to our Lord. She has also faithfully guided her children in a life of service and obedience to their Lord. We love you Susan and are upholding you and your family in prayer during this great time of loss.
