Eccl. 2:2 "So I said, "Laughter is silly. What good does it do to seek pleasure?"

Verse 1 & 2 wasn't a scientific test of course, but rather a practical experiment to see what in life brings the greatest lasting fulfillment.

The writer had even attempted to amass great mountains of worldly knowledge, but found that without real communion with God, it was all empty. Now he has looked to various forms of pleasure, but to his disappointment he has found that even this falls short of true contentment.

Just think in a prosperous, wealthy nation, such as our, there is no hope of lasting fulfillment. The greatest acheivement is to recognize the desperate need we all have, an eternal, enriching walk with our Heavenly Father.

Others in our world have failed to recognize Him and His many limitless ways to enrich our lives. The amazing truth is that He has all things in His hands, and His greatest joy is found in us coming to the reality that we are His children, and that we are only made totally complete, when we rest in Him.

Paul answers Solomons dilemma in 1 Cor. 15:58 "So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless."

John came to this same conclusion in 1 John 2:17 "And this world is fading away. along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever,"

As we traverse through Solomons struggle, rest assured we will come to the vital conclusion he came to in 2:24-26. Just hold on. For these life altering conclusions which most of us as believers have already stumbled onto, he will also arrived at.

So Go With God for just as the song says - Only Jesus Can Satisfy. Psalm 107:9;43 "For He satisfies the longing, and the hungry soul, He fills our lives with good things ... Whoever is wise, let him heed these things and consider the great love of the Lord."
