Psalm 84:9-12 "O God, look with favor upon the king, our shield! Show favoritism to the one you have anointed. 10 A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. 11 For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will uphold no good thing from those who do what is right. 12 O Lord of Heaven's Armies, what joy for those who trust in you."
In this passage the writer declares just what the comparison is to gather in God's presence or house compared to living in the most elaborate suroundings without Him. Even living as a gatekeeper (butler) is preferable to living freely in the mansion of those who ignore God and His care.
The reason for his seaire to live in God's presence is that living in His presence brings the grace and glory of God into our lives. For when we are living in His presence we know that our Father will never withhold anything that would ever be harmful to us. In fact; His greatest joy is to overflow us with as many blessings as may bring good outcome to our life. We can be assured that if He has allowed difficulty into our lives it is only to bring strength and security to our lives.
As a young boy, fourth grader, my teacher realized that I was unable to see the front chalk board, and because of that I couldn't learn due to the reminding benefit of the information she place there. She moved my up front near her desk but this wasn't enough assistance. She made my parents aware of this concern ,however, they needed time to save up money for this need. My teacher set out to meet my need behind my back and even my parents.
She gathered people around me to help solve this delimma, my neighbors son wore glasses and had frames that had become to small for him, so they donated those frames for me, the optical company donated the charge for my examination. Then my principal and teacher collected the money amongst them to pay for the lenses.
I still remember walking out of the optical store and being able to.see everything with such clarity. As I went home I was fascinated with all of the birds in the sky, the clouds, the leaves on the trees, etc. I just layed down in the grass and stared at all of those things that I had not been aware of till then.
I am reminded of our Father and His love for us and how He reveals all of the amazing truths that we have in life. How in the same way He brings times of challenge into our lives that He has recognize as their purpose will help us envision His eternal truths into our lives and thoughts.
Just as those glasses in my earlier years brought a whole new world to me, He brings or allows things into our lives that result in the realization of His love and care for us.
SO GO WITH GOD for He is aware of the needs that we have and the way He can effect those events in our lives to bring a wealth of knowledge to us. Oh, "What joy comes to those who trust in you"
Just think about this, Our God, the creator of the universe, cares about our needs for today, tommorow, and the coming days. We can joy in this fact, that He cast's His favor on our lives. He doesn't just put up with our requests, NO, He joys in fulfilling them.
