What did one car say to another after getting into an accident? Don’t get bent out of shape! Oh oh yeah I know, no accident is easy to face.

Prov. 25:6,7 “Don’t demand an audience with the king or push for a place among the great. It’s better to wait for an invitation to the head table than to be sent away in public disgrace. “

The advice given here is repeated in several places by several other people:

Here by Solomon Prov. 25:6,7

Jesus spoke of this in Luke 14:7-11

Also was spoken in Jeremiah 45:5 “Are you seeking things for yourself? Don’t do it! I will bring great disaster upon those people; but I will give you your life as a reward wherever you go, I, the Lord, have spoken.

This message was given to Baruch, then after he had written down God’s message to King Jehoiakim this promise was made to him. He had written a message to Judah of death & destruction by God for worshipping the gods of Egypt. I’m sure after writing & delivering this message to the people of Judah brought him no favor. In fact, I am sure the people hated him and shrugged when seeing him. But Baruch was faithful to delivering God’s message.

This specific lesson in Jeremiah was warning us to be careful not to compromise our messages in order to gain the honor of men, regardless of who they are.

However, this proverb was warning us to not live our lives in order to gain honor by mankind. Whether it is in being received by the king, or by expecting to be welcomed into a great place of honor.

Rather than seeking honor for ourself, we should strive to greatly honor Our King, for after all, everything we are & have has been given to us by God. John reminds of that in John 3:27 “… No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.”

So Go With God for He is a gracious, merciful Father, who owns everything in our world. To think that something is owed us, is prideful & foolish. However, to serve faithfully and gladly our Father, will result in favor from Him. Just think. The choice is: the favor of men which is only for the present, but rather favor from God which is eternal In nature.
