Challenge:
Psalm 90:7-12 "We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury. 8 You spread out our sins before you--our secret sins--and you see them all. 9 We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan. 10 Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away. 11 Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve. 12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom."
These verses lay out several important issues for us to give much consideration:
God knows every failure in our lives
We are accountable for how we live out our lives
Our longevity of life is brief (for most people 70-80 years)
God deserves that we offer honor and respect throughout our lives
Only God can cause our lives to be filled with wisdom
Now, after reflecting on these concerns, choose one of these things to focus on this morning.
I choose for myself to reflect on two things: (verse 12)
Am I investing my life fully in honoring my God?
What new ways am I going to grow in gaining wisdom today, tomorrow, and next week?
I have been reminded to look back to lifes lessons found in these eternal words of this one book, (Psalms). What have I missed in my reading and meditating on it? If today were my very last day what would I do to change my schedule? What attitudes would I redirect today? What words would I want to be said today?
These are penetrating thoughts aren't they? They must have been the thoughts that consumed the writers of these verses. So, with these all consuming cioncerns, let's go back to this concern.
SO GO WITH GOD my dear one, for only then can we accomplish leaving a proper legacy for those who we yearn to give the proper fruit of life to be lived out. We must ask ourselves; What is the fruit that my life has left behind? My question to be taken into account should be; What actions have I fulfilled through yesterday's efforts. Are they enriching in others lives? Most of all; Are they demonstrating my honor and love for God properly?
Fortnight
