Challenge:

Psalm 90:1,2 "Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! 2 Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God. 3 You turn people back to dust, saying, "Return to dust, you mortals." 4 For you a thousand years are as a passing day, as a brief as a few night hours. 5 You sweep people away like dreams that disappear. They are like grass that springs up in the morning. 6 In the morning it blooms and flourishes, but by evening it is dry and withered."

These first verses contrast God's eternity and man's brief existence on the earth. This first verse begins by recounting to God that He alone is our home (basis for living). Everything else in our existence has limits, but God is everlasting in His very nature.

This passage reminds us of the fact that God is immortal, while man is mortal. The Lord is above time; while we are time-conscious. The Lord is everlasting to everlasting; while man like grass, is short lived. We are not only brief in existence as mere men, but are also frail (in need of His directive workings).

This realization brings to mind the vital need for us to depend on Him to carry out, encourage others to honor His plans in the lives of those that we love. This brief overview of our life emphasizes the necessity of God being given the proper place in our lives as well as our future need to be guided by our eternal Father and the need for us to emphasize these truths to others, particularly our loved ones. For without this understanding they will be easily guided off course and be unable to leave eternal value to others that they also value.

SO GO WITH GOD for He alone is aware of the vital truths that should lead our lives. He alone gives us His strength for each day that He blesses us with. He alone knows the direction that our lives should lead in the coming days.
