Well good morning it’s Sunday and a great day of fellowship is in store. On the lighter side Why do the elephant eat the candle? For a light refreshment. HaHa Sorry about that This one is so bad it qualifies for a bad dad joke.
Our meditation for today comes from Prov. 15:16 “Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have a great treasure and inner turmoil.”
This is the first of a number of “better... than comparison in Proverbs.
They are found in Proverbs 15:16,17; 16:8, 19, 32; 17:1, 12; 19:1; 21:9, 19; 25:7, 24; 27:5, 10; 28:6.
The comparison in this verse is comparing have a little or much. Mankind’s thinking is many times driven by amassing stuff of this life particularly in our present culture is money.
In this light our Father is calling for us to live in reverence and honor of God than to collect great treasure. The outcome of living a life apart from His influence in our life is turmoil (a state of disturbance, confusion or uncertainty.)
So the contrast is a life of calm, certainty, and direction or a life of confusion, uncertainty, and disturbance.
So Go With God and have clarity, confidence, and rest, then others in your life will hunger for that in theirs.
Having lost all I had more than once in my life, I know everything is just on loan here on earth and only has temporary earthly value. We won't need any of it in heaven God will supply it all!
