Good morning it’s Tuesday another day of experiencing Our Father’s working in our life.

Hey, bet you can’t guess which musician loves making chili? Well, you got it. It is Rod Stew-art. He really enjoys mixing it up. Ha ha

Our passage today is looking at Prov. 20:14 “The buyer haggles over the price, saying, “It’s worthless”, then brags about getting a bargain!”

This verse describes an age old negotiating tactic, however, it isn’t condemning this practice, rather is just reflecting on it.

This is a strong lesson for the buyer, “Be aware” of this tactic. Don’t be tricked by this buyers strategy.

I will never forget as a young man my Grandfather left me in charge of the salvage yard. One afternoon as he & my uncle Ray were off to a major auction. They hadn’t warned me of this oft used tactic, by creative buyers.

After about an hour a man sauntered onto the yard. He was casually walking through the yard asking prices for various materials. He then trued to pull me into his web by telling me of his noble mission. Building a play structure for children. Then he sprung the trap on me, How bout donating to his cause”?

Knowing the generous mindset of my grandfather, I assured the man, that I was sure if he came back that my grandfather would consider his donation proposition, but I wasn’t at liberty to make that decision.

Since that ploy didn’t work he then set out to demean the material he was in need of, and asked for a major reduction in the prescribed price. I again assured him that he could come back & address his concerns with my grandfather.

He then turned to complimenting me and attempting to address my pride. Another customer came and he used that urgency to attempt to let him leave the majority of the materials here at the scales and just take a few of the pieces he needed in order to continue on his project.

As a young teen I thought about it for a minute & then told him he could buy what he needed at the prescribed price & I would put the rest of his shopping needs on hold till my grandfather returned.

At that point he saw that I wouldn’t be deterred so he agreed and reluctantly paid for his needed materials.

That was a lesson that I & my dad had studied some weeks back at home and we had discussed this. He had illustrated it with his job & ways that he had learned to work through these sales tactics.

I will never forget that night as I went home & shared that experience with dad, how

He laughed and we reflected on our conversation on this proverb.

I didn’t really at that time appreciate God’s wisdom or dad’s investment in my life until years later. When I as a man and was involved in sales; working my way through college, selling vacuum cleaners.

These practical lessons can guide us through life.

So Go With God and He will bring to your mind those practical lessons that He instills in our lives. As we work through while studying His words, and reasoning through these experiences in life.
