Can you guess what the wolf said to the flea? Yes, your right, he said “Stop bugging me.”
Prov. 24:21,22 “My child, fear the Lord and the king. Don’t associate with rebels, for disaster will hit them suddenly. Who knows what punishment will come from the Lord and the king?”
This proverb is focusing on the concept of respect; both to God (divine authority) and the king (human authority). The warning is to stay away from those who rebel from either human or godly authority.
Peter said in 1 Peter 2:17 ”Honor all men, Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.”
The over arching theme of Pro. 1-9 was to reverence God. Take a look at Prov. 1 :29; 2:5; 3:7; 8:3; 9:10; 14:6,7.
This reverence & submission is a necessity for gaining knowledge & wisdom. (Prov. 2:4–6; 15:33; Job 28:28; Psa. 111:0; Eccl. 12:13) However, until we gain a redemptive relationship with God we can’t have true knowledge. There will be a progression 1) hunger for being taught about God; 2)) then learning all about God; 3) developing a fear for God; 4) getting to know God in a personal way; 5) imitating His wisdom.
So Go With GOD then HE will lead you to eternal, ultimate wisdom. What step are you in with this progressionary process? This respect spoken of here was the peculiarity of the
nation of Israel. This was their redeeming quality, it caused them to experience
national protection & blessings even when they were captive.
