Why We Follow God’s Commands

Trivia:

Good guesses everyone on the poet who connected romance with Valentine’s day. It was Geoffrey Chaucer who was first to connect romantic love with Valentine’s Day in 1375.

Do you know In Maryland what “Jimmy’s & Sally’s” are referred to? Plants; Crabs; Dishes; Dances?

Challenge:

Psalm 111:6-8 “He has shown His great power to His people by giving them the lands of other nations. All He does is just and good, and all His commands are trustworthy. 8 They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity.”

Not only did and does God embody great power in the earth, but His instructions also are worthy of our trust in them. You may ask why? Verse 8 tells us why we should place our trust in them. They are always proven to be true, faithful, and also build integrity into the lives of those who follow their teachings.

Now just for a minute reflect on the many times that God is commands are true. As He led the Hebrew nation out of Egypt He promised to guide them to a land of great promise, a land where they would find fertility, blessing, and provision. Today Israel is the most productive nation, fruit, and crops are the most plentiful in their whole region.

Also think about the way that God provided food and water as they travelled across the wilderness, shade by day and light by night. When they followed after His commands they as a nation prospered. gained favor by those surrounding nations, and were protected by His faithful hand, but when they turned from Him and His instruction they ended up in slavery.

They also were guided by truth, they were protected from the foolish thinking of the nations who they encountered throughout their history. Worship of wooden and stone lifeless idols, as well as, the foolish sacrifice of their babies to them, and other destructive practices, that proved to be harmful to the people.

Now you may ask how were these false practices proven to be foolish and wrong? Well that is an easy truth, each time they followed in these foolish practices it led them to find their foolish ways brought them to and end of false conclusions and destructive patterns. What harmful patterns were they? The sacrifice of the very gifts that God gave to them, the death of their children, the loss of integrity to each other, and the result of lies being held up as truth, which ultimately resulted in harm and destruction to everyone that was included.

We see these very consequences foisted on others who surround them, then the ultimate outcome of rampant slavery, destruction, truth being harmed, and foolish thinkings to be thought of as truth.

Today we see these same consequinces rampant, people living away from their families, in tents, beside the road, on side walks, by the wayside, asking for hand outs, etc. Why? because they have been sold the lie that drugs, laziness, godlessness, are the ways to real happiness. When in reality these ways bring destruction on those who follow these ways. Continual Illness, harmful practices, along with these destructive habits, all of which result in loss to our whole society.

Whereas when we look to people who follow in God’s ways we see inventive practices a productive lifestyle, and a reasoned daily disciplined lifestyle.

SO GO WITH GOD for His ways bring the greatest benefit to all of mankind. Those who have been tricked to the foolish ways of our enemy need for us to lovingly help them to return to His commands. For they bring a life of blessing and enrichment to everyone who follows them. Rest in God’s truths my dear one, by reading and meditating on His Word, for He desires to bring harmony, peace, and integrity to your life each day that we begin to look to His instruction for guidance.
