Psalm 48:12 -14"Go, inspect the city of Jerusalem. Walk around and count the many towers. 13 Take note of the fortified walls, and tour all the citadels, that you may describe them to future generations. 14 For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and He will guide us until we die."
This section of scripture speaks of just how great is our Lord's love for us, to the extent that he built the wal with extreme measures. The width & height are beyond what is necessary, the number of locations there were in order to assure a placement for observation of external enemies. Finally, the last verse lays out God's evidence of His care for His followers, "He is our God forever and ever".
This promise is both affirmed and provides visible evidence of this in Isaiah 58:11 "The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like and ever-flowing spring."
David encourages those who are followers of God to not just take his word for these promises but to examine the extent of God's protection that He has provided. Take time to examine the defenses that God has provided for them, the towers, fortifications, and the strongholds that He has taken the effort to prove the extent of His many provisions.
Isaiah goes on in verse 13 to remind the Hebrew people to take that holy day, the Sabbath, and make it a day of giving praises to God, to reflect on His faithfulness, to delight in God's care for them in the last week, to delight in the wisdom of His ways, and not to forget the watch care that God faithfully gave to protect His children from all attacks both in last week but yet to come.
Lastly in Isaiah 58:14 he says, "Then the Lord will be your delight. He will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised your ancestors."
SO GO WITH GOD for if we never forget to follow His instruction He will shower His care and guidance in our life. Then our children, grand children, and great grand children will live out the legacy that we have determined to live out in our lives. He will not only protect us and them, but He will provide guidance for their days yet to come. So saints uphold His truths in your life and your faithfulness to Him will bring results to your children ten times over.
Isaiah reminds us in 58:14 "Then the Lord will be your delight, I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken!"
