What Should You Do When Life’s Struggles Overwhelm You?

Trivia:

Did you determine which animal has become the part of creation that may hold the key to scientific study in order to guide us humans to effective regenerative research? The animal that has become the object of scientific research due to its ability to regenerate itself even to the extent of its spinal cord, heart, and even parts of its brain is the Axoloti. The reason for scientists curiosity is that this animal can perform this restoration throughout its body without forming scar tissue, which many times is the process that impedes healing in mankind upon being injured. This scaring most time harms the healing process in human injury. This animal many times appears much like the salamander, but is distinct in its ability to achieve healing properties when injured.

Do you remember back to the 80’s the saying that was commonly used when a person was told to relax? Was it… Take another line; Take a nap; Take a chill pill; or Take a sip of tab? Let’s see just how good your memory is…

Challenge:

Psalm 116:1-7 “I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. 2 Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! 3 Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. 4 Then I called on the name of the Lord: “Please, Lord, save me!” 5 How kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, the God of ours! 6 The Lord protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and He saved me. 7 Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me.”

At the beginning of this post I asked the question; What should you do when life’s struggles begin to overwhelm you?

That’s a good question to grapple with because many people in this day begin to move into and then ultimately live/abide in a hopeless state in their lives. However, our Lord has the solution to this dilemma, for us His children. Now, you may be asking this very question today, yesterday, this week, and this month or maybe even this year.

Our gracious loving Lord offers to us His answer in this Psalm,

Verse 1 We have God’s full attention when we call out to Him for His loving guidance and mercy

Verse 2 He doesn’t just hear us in our troubles, but He focuses His total compassion on our troubles.

Verse 3 Even when our terrors overwhelm us, yes, when we consider death the only solution

Verse 4 Stop!!! Call out to Him for His solution. Why???

Verse 5 Because He is not only All-Powerful, but He also is kind, good, and full of mercy

Verse 6 Cry out!!! Oh not casually, when all else seemed to has seemed to have failed. No!!! In that way that you did to your parents when you were a child and things seem hopeless, even beyond living through you called out. Help me !!!

Verse 7 Now — when you have come to that place where you have tried everything, to no avail

STOP!!! Return to that place of rest, and surrender, to that place that Jeremiah spoke of in Jeremiah 6:16 “This is what the Lord says: Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.”

As you read on in this passage you will see that Israel refused to follow in God’s way. They rebelled against the Lord and continued on in their own way. God placed watchmen to protect them, but they continued on in living life their own way. They even tried to make sacrifices to appease Him so He would help them. But instead He put obstacles in their lives, The armies of the North invaded them. Then, He promised them victory if they would but obey Him, but they refused to obey Him.

So they turned to worshiping idol, false gods, and anything else that may have seemed to bring a solution, but these wicked people, made a mockery of their past heroes who worshiped God. These wicked people destroyed everything they held dear, even to the extent of desecrating the bodies of their loved ones and even those places that were constructed to honor sacred times, people, and even past victories.

But in the end if this book God says in Jeremiah 51:5 “… the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has not abandoned … His people. He is still their God, even though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.”

SO GO WITH GOD my child and He will bring salvation, blessing, peace, hope, and purpose to your life. He will bring rest to our soul if we but call on Him.
