Trivia:
Way to go everyone, Boston is the major city that is part of the "Northeast Corridor". This is the largest megalopolis of economic output in the U.S. with 50 million residents which reside along the U.S. Route 1, interstate 95, and the Acela train line, from Boston to Washington, D.C.
Challenge:
Psalm 19:12-14 "How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don't let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer."
This final section of this Psalm turns directly on his need to consciously recognize the acts of disobedience that can bring sadness to the heart of God. These are deliberate sins, those acts that are willfully contrived by his failure to properly meditate on the things that are definitely pleasing to God.
Apostle Paul spoke of this very struggle in Romans 6:12-14 where he said, "Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give into sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God's grace."
Let's spend a few thoughts about those actions which can easily bring harm to our faithful walk with the Savior.
1) secret faults - You may be asking what are these, they are the small unintentional steps that lead us
to open sin - when Israel was preparing to cross the Red Sea and the Egyptian army was bearing
down on them, rather than calling out to God, they accused Moses of getting them in this mess.
Here, the secret sin was their failure to immediately calling out to God for deliverance. Rather
Moses called out to Him and He brought down darkness & unnavigateable fog to halt the armies
progress.
2) presumptuous sins - Well according to the following words, they were sins that can easily gain
dominion over us. Each of us have varying struggles, some battle impatience, or pride, or fear, or
other such insecurities. They are struggles which we allow to easily come into our thoughts and
take over or minds, and hearts.
3) great transgressions - Failure to look to God for victory, which naturally unleashes His strength
and cleansing work in our lives. We can so easily find ourselves overcome by Satan's lying lies.
SO GO WITH GOD for He alone can steer our lives away from, the convoluted excuses that Satan uses to pull us into evil, or the tendency to excuse our improper conduct, or complex explanations of our way into falling to secret faults. So drawing near to our Savior and His supernatural strength, as well as, His cleansing power leads us beyond these weaknesses. Our prayer needs to fall into line with the last verse. "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight". This conduct alone will guide our lives away from these tendencies of secret faults, presumptive sins, or great transgressions.
