Trivia:

Here's a little bit harder trivia question. What was Microsoft's first graphic operating system that was released in 1985? Was it Windows to the Soul; Windows 1; Windows 2; Window 1, now make your guess.

Challenge:

Psalm 5:6 "You will destroy those who tell lies. The Lord detests murders and deceivers."

It is important to look at these important concepts laid out in verse 4-6

3 affirming promises - 1) He take no pleasure in wickedness

2) He cannot tolerate sins of the wicked

3) the proud won't stand in your presence

3 attitudes against evil - 1) you hate all who do evil

2) You will destroy those who tell lies (refuse to tell truth)

3) The Lord detests (abhors) murders and deceivers

Though God is a God of love, He teaches us that sometimes the loving thing to do is to stand in direct opposition to those who bring harm to all of those attitudes in their lives. These few verses lay these truths out.

God considers those who are "workers of iniquity" or "speak lies" or "are bloodthirsty and deceitful men" are an abomination to Him. This phrase helps us to culminate or recognize the necessity of the right punishment, as todays legal term is called "capitol punishment". (or the more common term used is the death penalty).

Our culture today bears out the necessity of these forms of punishment. We are seeing the slow but steady destruction of a humane, civilized society all around us. The amazing thing to me is that those proponents of these standards consider themselves caring. God in these verse lays out the necessity of a firm, fair, form of justice, in order for a loving community to exist. These signs surrounding us today are the result of a society that rejects the knowledge of God.

Tomorrow we will look at the many benefits of a people who follow after the ways, and instructions of God in their lives. The comparison is stark, upholding a nation that recognizes God as our supreme leader, who in turn provides "justice for all". The fact that these barriers provide an atmphere where unfailing love is flowing from, is unquestionable.

SO GO WITH GOD for the outflow of this form of living brings these benefits (unfailing love, joyous awe, clear guidelines to live by) . The choice is up to each of us, whether we uphold the guidelines of a faithful, loving God, or we surrender ourselves to a world of godless destruction. As the song says, "The Choice is up to you"
