Trivia:

Good guesses everyone, However, the first cereal Mascot was Sunny Jim who was a pioneering figure in the world of cereal. By the way can you name any other cereal mascots of your life? Here are a few I remember: General Mills--Trix Rabbit; Kellogs--Tony the Tiger; Post Cereals--Sugar Bear; Quaker Oats--Cap'n Crunch to name a few.

Challenge:

Psalm 56:10-13 "I praise God for what He has promised; Yes, I praised the Lord for what He has promised. 11 I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? 12 I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help. 13 For you have rescued me from death; You have kept my feet from slipping. So i now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light."

David begins this section by repeating his words in verse 4 "I praise God for what He has promise." not just once but He repeats it twice. Next he moves forward to reminding himself that mere mortal forces cannot overcome the mighty power of His eternal Father.

If you notice David uses two names attributed to God in his praises, Elohim and Yahweh Jehovah. who speaks of The Almighty One and The Covenant Keeping One.

Next he in the middle of uncertain times, even potential death David promises to uphold his dedication to God, and share his testimony of God's faithfulness. How He has helped him to walk steadily in His ways, though sleep and slumber are far from him at this time, God alone keeps him from falling into Satans trap of forgetting the ever present care of His Eternal Father.

Because of this time of uncertainty in his life, he affirms his promise to walk in your presence, in his listening to God and His voice of comfort and strength and in His light and life. David told us about this before in Psalm 27:1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation--so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?"

Here he reflects on the many times that he experienced God's guiding presence, and then he reflects on God's ever present place of refuge, and light. He is reminding you and I of the stable protection that our Yahweh Father provides for us when we faithfully call upon Him. He never fails us even in the darkest of times, He gives us life and light.

SO GO WITH GOD for He will carry you through those many times of uncertainty, and dark seemingly impossible times, that's when He will rescue you from the enemies many attempts to defeat us (you and I).

Just a reminder: Malachi 3:16 "Then they that feared the Lord spoke often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon His name."

David was reminding himself of the vows he had made to God to repeat the many times that he experienced His faithful protection through each trial.

I was reminded of God's response to my prayers, when I noticed how my dogs respond when Becky called to them the other day. They seemed to be fast asleep, but just a few words from her awakened them and brought them to her side.

In the same way our faithful God upon our call responds to our struggles. He faithfully rescues us from death and loss, and even when we lose our way or balance and need His assistance to keep us from falling, He is there, on the ready giving comfort, light, as well as a steady shoulder to lean on. "For He careth for you."

Hummm, i only remember tony the tiger. Would have never ever guessed sunny jim?
