Challenge:

Psalm 110.1-7 “The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.” 2 The Lord will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalem; you will rule over your enemies. 3 When you go to war, your people will serve you willingly. You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will be renewed each day like morning dew. 4 The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow; “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” 5 The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts. 6 He will punish the nations and fill their lands with corpses; he will shatter heads over the whole earth. 7 But he himself will be refreshed from brooks along the way. He will be victorious.”

This Psalm is a prophetic Oracle not speaking of David, but of the Lord from the lineage of David, Jesus Messiah. This coming reign of Jesus is referred to in four place in the New Testament. Matthew 22:44; Mark 12:36; Luke 20:42; Acts 2:34.

This passage refers to a Davidic figure who will come to the earth one day and will reign victorious over all men on the earth. Who is this person spoken of here? 1 Corinthians 15:25-28 clarifies just who He is, (the Christ) and just what He will do, (He will conquer all rulers on the earth, and His last enemy), (death and Hell). Then He will victoriously return back all authority under our supreme Jehovah God.

The final words of this chapter are spoken are, “He will be victorious.” Our Lord, Jesus will return to this earth and we saints will reign on the earth for a millennium (1,000 years), under Him. We will offer to the people of the earth one last opportunity to give their hearts to the Savior, and live in the joy of His salvation. Unfortunately, some though they witness the perfect reign of the Lord on the earth, where sin’s influence is cast out and righteousness will be given its full reign, even so, they will reject Him.

Oh, our Lord could reign supreme without any choice given to mankind, but He created us in His image, with the ability choose whether we will worship and commune with Him, or whether we will follow in ways foreign to Him, and some, will none the less, chose to go the way of sin. These ones who chose this way, as verse 6 tells us will be punished with eternal consequences.

SO GO WITH GOD and proclaim the saving grace of God to all mankind, publish His love and greatness to ALL. He faithfully offers His victory to all of us who chose to receive His saving grace. So in order to proclaim this truth effectively to all, begin your day each day, as verse 7 says in the “refreshing brook” of the Spirit “along the way”.

Let the word of truth (The Bible) have its full working in your life this morning. Call upon His name for cleansing and forgiveness, for as vers 5 says, “The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you.”
