Trivia:
You all were right, in Western culture, owls appear in writings from "The Illiad" to "Winnie the Pooh" as wise, possibly because they are able to see through darkness.
On the lighter side: Did you hear this one? Why is the swordfish's nose only 11 inches long? Well because if it were 12 inches long, it would be a foot. Ho, ha.
Challenge:
Psalm 4:5 "Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the Lord."
This verse is calling upon us to give sacrifices to our Lord Jesus, not because we want something, or because we hope to get something, but rather as a result of our rejoicing in His goodness. Many times we are tempted to give to God our time and money with the hopes of gaining something from Him, such as forgiveness, or acceptance, or other menial desires. Rather our gracious God desires our sacrifices as an open expression of our love and praise for Him.
The second thought in this verse He passes onto us, is just how much, and when we should put our trust in God. Just how much should we put our trust in God? Oh my friend, let us learn that we can always trust in His love for us. He never fails to guide us in ways that brings the greatest joy, and completeness. Some times we may be tempted to feel that His ways are needlessly the hard ways, but each time we follow His ways regardless of our concerns we become aware that truly His ways always bring peace and joy.
As the song says, "Great is the Lord" His ways are past our ability to know the future.
SO GO WITH GOD my dear one, for His ways are past our ability to even recognize the blessings of our future days.
