Trivia:

Which novel was set in the Roaring 20's? The great Gatsby, To kill a mocking bird, Animal Farm, The catcher in the rye? More next week.

Hey did you hear about the first restaurant to open on the moon? Yeah, it had great food but no atmosphere. Oh, oh, but it was out of this world.

Challenge:

Psalm 1:3 "He shall be like a tree, Planted by the rivers of water, That bring forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he does shall prosper."

Did you know who this promise was originally given to? Yep, thats right it was given to Joshua in Joshua 1:8. Here he was poised to take the leadership of the people of Israel. He was young inexperienced, facing an almost impossible task, passing over a sea at flood stage, into a land of powerful armies, with a young nation, all of them were barely 20.

This same promise stands true today for you and me. If we take the time to sink the roots of our soul deep into the rich soil of the Bible, then we will greatly prosper. Notice this promise has several overwhelming challenges, just as Israel had, the planting of themselves in a foreign land. They are planted in mostly arid terrain, they were being planted (transplanted) by God, just as we have been given the abundant grace of God. It is to the extent that we grow into this precious book will we experience prosperity and enrichment. This beginning of salvation began with God (the planting of salvation from God) and the continuing effort is dependent upon our continued commitment to Him and His word.

This same promise was spoken of in Jeremiah 17:8, and repeated in Matthew by Jesus to any who received His saving work. The conditions were to be separated from sin and separated to Him and His words, then the qualities of strength, health, and fruitful living would be the outcome. Just think His promises are a never-failing supply of nourishment and refreshment for our lives, the graces of the Spirit, his words and actions in our lives, in a timely, and appropriate manner. You see our Father's spiritual life isn't subject to cyclical changes but rather is characterized in this promise to continuous inner renewal. D. L. Muddy put it this way, "All of the Lord's trees are evergreen."

SO GO WITH GOD and you will forever abound in fruitful works in your life. My dear ones draw upon His words for consistent renewal, and wisdom for all of life, both in the times of struggle and in the times of bounty. As we dig deep into His words, and meditate on His truths we will experience a renewing inner working from Him each day. He never fails, you can count on Him.
