Well happy Friday. Did you hear about the guy whose left side was cut off? But don’t worry He’s all right now. Oh ohhhhhhhh?
Today’s meditation is found in
Prov. 20:5 “Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will it draw out.”
This verse reminds me of a time at my grandparents house. We had very little rain that year and the well went dry. My grandpa had a friend who was a driller, most of his time was spent on mining perspectives for large building foundations.
However, because he was his friend he brought his big rig and drilled out my grandfathers well another 100 feet deeper.
The next week when we went to visit my grandma ask me to draw some water for coffee. I went out and pumped & pumped & pumped and no water. When telling my grandma she laughed & said you’ve got to prime this new well.
My uncle Ray went to help me. He took the bucket on the well house floor & poured the water down the pump throat. Then he began pumping again.
Sure enough after a few more pumps out came water, I put water in the pitcher & my uncle instructed me to be sure to fill the bucket on the well house floor & put the lid on it before going into the house.
Before taking the water into the house my uncle took the drinking ladle & had me take a drink. It was much cooler as the well was much deeper, and of course it seemed much more refreshing.
It was a hot day so we poured the fresh cool water over our heads & for a minute it took my breath away.
Many times in the summer I would stay overnight with my dear Uncle Ray. He would teach me many things but especially about the Bible & of God’s love for me. I am forever endeared to my kind, loving Uncle who taught me many special things about our Father’s love & His wisdom He left buried in the Bible just for us.
One of the special persons I loved to share with was my uncle Ray. As a child I never fully appreciated his wisdom & counsel. But as I grew up I gained as in our meditations together, so much wisdom from Uncle Ray’s stories.
I will never forget his stories he shared into the darkness of night as we spent those summer nights together. I would wonder off to sleep somewhere in the story’s he showered on me.
Sorry, I got carried away. My life has been so enriched by so many special people of understanding in my life. Two of which were my father & my uncle. I would prime the pump of their rich reservoir of life with questions & they would pour out answers from Our Father’s rich answer
Book (the Bible).
So Go With God and His friends who have dug deep in His wisdom. When hard times come that’s when the riches of their stories will fill your empty, dry bucket.
