Happy Anniversary to my lovely, smart, caring, gracious (I could go on & on & on & on but I digress)

Eccl. 1:10 "We don't remember what happened in the past, and in the future generations, no on will remember what we are doing right now."

What Solomon is saying that we have the tendency of forgetting the events in our lives, both the past & even the future, and even what we are doing this very instant.

Now I must admit to the many times I have headed out to the garage and then wondered why I went out their, too many times especially recently.

What he is talking about here is that the many things that have been done are easily forgotten especially if it isn't written down or recorded in some way.

He is referring to the bitter pill to swallow is the speed at which man forgets and is forgotten. Lasting memories are a mirage, in fact we may have difficulty naming our great-grandparents.

We may in fact think that the world can't get along without us, but as soon as we die, all of our accomplishments are soon forgotten. Except maybe our failures, this

Go down in infamy.

This answers the question found in verse 3 "What profit has a man" He gains nothing because even his struggle may later seem futile.

But I say "Wait a minute" There is something new: we are made new in Christ, 2 Cor. 5:17. We must never forget that wonderful truth.

The prophet of Lamentations 3:21 ... This I call to mind and therefore I have hope. Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed (forgotten) for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness."

Yes, our righteous deeds will go forward to our Lord, yes they may be forgotten, by mankind but they won't be without influence on our loved ones.

"Wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. ... He will show His compassion, so great is his unfailing love."

So Go With God for His mercies and goodness will rest on you, my friend. His ways are past finding out, they are filled with wonder & goodness. And the works of your hands won't be forgotten by Him. Rest in this hope, my dear ones.
