Psalm 86:6-10 Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord; hear my urgent cry. 7 I will call to you whenever I'm in trouble, and you will answer me. 8 No pagan god is like You, O Lord. Non can do what you do! 9 All nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name. 10 For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God."
In this segment of the Psalm, David points out the difference between the false gods of the world, and his God. These false gods don't desire to or are the capable of ministering to the needs of their subjects, while his God listens to him, and then reaches out to minister to his needs. These pagan gods have not even the desire to perform any deeds that could benefit their subjects.
David was recounting the many times that Yahweh ministered to his needs. First in listening intently to his requests, then faithfully answering his requests. He experienced time after time his God's responding to his and others needs through wonderful deeds, and many times even beyond his requests.
The nation of Israel many times would witness the grace. mercy, and helpful guidance of God, in the middle of its trials and uncertainties. Their survival was living proof of the constant care that God would faithfully carry out for them. Just the survival of the nation amid those nations who bore a hatred against them was living evidence of His faithfulness. (We see this even today through the hatred of their surrounding nations)
Many times we fail to come to God in confidence and trust for His provision of our needs. His love and care for us is in our daily lives prove out over and over when we come before Him in trust & confidence. Over and over the nation of Israel witnessed their God's works on their behalf, from protection from the most powerful army,(cloud barrier) to a path through the red sea at flood stage on dry ground, to food and water in the middle of the desert for 2 million people for 40 years. How amazing is that?
SO GO WITH GOD for His ways are far beyond what we may be able to even imagine not alone to call out for. Oh the hand of our God is continuously desirous of meeting our needs even beyond what we may be aware of. As verse 10 puts it, "For you are great and perform wonderful deeds." The amazing thing is that He quietly meets needs in our lives that we aren't even aware of, without any expectations for honor and praise.
Just as a parent looks out for ways to best care for their children when they minister to their needs in ways that they aren't even aware of. In the same way our Father goes before us and provides for us before we even are aware of our needs. As David ends this passage with the words, "You alone are God." You prove this evidence toward us daily in just how your intent is to lovingly shower your blessings on us.
