Challenge:

Psalm 5:11 "But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy."

If you remember earlier David began this Psalm talking about the turmoil of his life, the various enemies who were part of this struggle. Now he speaks of the joy and praise that he experiences when he takes refuge in his Lord's protection.

We are reminded of our position as God's children, when we turn to Him and place our confidence in Him. When we focus on Him and His ability to provide protection in our lives, regardless of the enemy, we will naturally find peace, joy, and praise.

Our joy should always be focused on our Savior. Look at Phil. 4:4 "Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again--rejoice." Paul is calling on two women who had earlier been strong servants in the church who now were at odds with each other. Now he reminds them of the many blessings of following the Lord, (joy) then in verse 5 he says this as the reason for them to be loving even through these conflicts that they are feeling. "Remember, the Lord is coming soon,"

This should be the very reason for our joy in the middle of the storms of life, "the Lord is returning soon". We should never allow this thought to be wiped from our memory. Even though hardship and trials can easily at times become our only focus, our defense is "Rejoice in the Lord", for He knows just the right thing to do, just the right time to return for us, and just the right response for us to take in the middle of these times of loss.

One of the reasons that we begin our services with singing, is so that we will come together in the power of His Joy.

SO GO WITH GOD for "Joy comes in the morning." After we surge through the storm, once we enter the new day, joy comes to us in our Father's great dawning reminder. "Rejoice in the Son".
