Psalm 47:5-9 "God has ascended with a mighty shout. The Lord has ascended with trumpets blaring. 6 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises! 7 For God is the King over all the earth. Praise Him with a psalm. 8 God reigns above the nations, sitting on His throne. 9 The rulers of the world have gathered together with the people of the God of Abraham. For all the kings of the earth belong to God. He is highly honored everywhere."
As I was reading and re-reading as the way that this helps me to focus on just what I needed to draw from this passage. I came to the realization that the center of this reading was found in verse 6. This verse pointed out to me in a blaring way, (with the intensity of a trumpet) this truth.
Our eternal, all powerful, all knowing, ruler of this universe; Yes, God's greatest desire is that we his creation beings, might come to the understanding that He above all of His creation, yearns for us to of our own will, to Sing praises to Him with all of our being.
He desires for us to commune with Him not out of fear, or uncertainty, or in order to receive anything from Him, but rather as His beloved child. If you have ever been blessed to bring a child into the world and then experienced the joy of nurturing that child to adulthood, you will come to the realization of the meaning of this reality.
Our Father, as any parent desires a relationship with him or her, in the same way that we parents desire to be a part of our childrens lives as well.
We don't want to just be drawn into their lives when they have a material need that we can provide, though that is one time that we feel joy participating in. Rather we want to go deeper, to share the joys of companionship, reveling in our kindredship, joying in the achievements of our children. The joys of them living out their lives and enriching those surrounding individuals who experience many blessing and joys through their relationships with our children. Our Father desires those very experiences.
These last few weeks as I viewed the Republic & Democratic Convention and the preliminary speeches, that were pointing out the public praise and admiration of that one who was being publicly adulated. That to me was the very message that this passage was attempting to be spoken to us. The words of appreciation by a fellow colleague, and words of praise by a spouse, and then public admiration of his children.
Our God desires this same sort of communion. The sharing of our relationship of wading through joint struggles, our praise of He our creator. then there is the praise of His wisdom, power, and compassion, as our provider. Lastly our praises for the many intimate, personal needs and desires that we share.
SO GO WITH GOD my fellow created being, for He desires all of those levels of companionship in our lives. Rest in His care in all of these matters.
