Well happy Wednesday it’s another great day to bask in our Father’s love. By the way Do you know why the elephant was thrown out of the swimming pool? Because he couldn’t hold his trunks up. Ha ha ha! So much for another bad dad joke for my Dad-a-base.

Our meditation is found in

Prov. 17:25 “Foolish children bring grief to their father and bitterness to the one who gave them birth.”

This specific teaching is repeated in Prov. 10:1; Prov. 15:20 &

Prov. 17:21.

To the Jewish home their children were their greatest heritage. That was why for a woman to not be able to bear a child was considered God’s curse.

It was also one of the greatest evils committed by a Jewish child to refuse to obey their parents, even to the point that to rebel against their parents could result in the punishment of stoning by the towns people.

Though there has been no such recorded punishment in Israel’s history. Partially because when a child was presented this potential punishment by the priest the child’s conduct would change.

This is why their is such an uprising among parents today. Their realization that some teachers & student leaders are openly undermining their Godly parental role.

These passages enforce just how serious our role as parents are and the communities role of supporting that God-given role.

We as believers must reinforce this concept of children being our greatest treasure and uplifting the parental role in the home. Dad’s being the priest of the home and the mother being the protector of the hearts of her children. These were the tenets of the Hebrew scripture & home.

So Go With God and He will guide you in this most sacred role. We are coming up to 2 important holidays these next two months. Mother’s Day & Father’s Day they were days celebrated in the Jewish calendar, also by the Hebrew temple. We must all hold these days in high regard for our Heavenly Father holds it that way also. Our role of spiritual leaders in the home is a high & holy calling, may we give great energy to it. Family devotions, regular church attendance, daily devotions & much time in prayer.
