Can you believe it’s Tuesday? Have you ever wondered ; Why graduates wear robes? Well here’s the straight scope. This tradition began in Europe where clergy-in-training would wear gowns or robes for special days, such as testing, or chapel day. They were called “academic dress”. This is where the tradition began. Upon completion of their training they would process to receive their certificate of completion. Graduates of first level learning, high school would wear gowns.

Then each level after that would wear a sash with colors for each additional level completed.

Todays location of meditation is found in Prov. 19:13 “A foolish son is the ruin of his father, And the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.”

In order to understand this first piece of instruction it is important to understand the Hebrew culture.

The responsibility of the father was to make sure that his oldest son was prepared for his role of carrying on his family heritage.

The father would prepare his son for this imperative by teaching him first the family business, career. For he was responsible to care for the family, should the father die.

And secondly to guide the family in a spiritual way. Faithfully, pass on the Laws of Moses to the younger children, as well as to ensure that they were faithful in attendance at temple school. Here they would learn to read, write, by reading the scripture, become adept at social skills, math calculation, and business operations, by assisting in the Levitical work of the temple grounds.

Finally, the son was to care for the home, and the yet unmarried girls, and to make sure to carry on the family legacy.

Once we understand this we see the necessity of the father passing on people skills to his son. The book of Proverbs was

the best manual for this task of instructing his son & ultimately his family.

It is also important to understand that when the word foolish is used it means - refusing to follow God’s instructions.

With this understanding becoming clarified, then the importance of the wife comes into clearer focus. Her role of teaching; team work, co-operation, learning to value each person in the home.

Creating a place where happiness and looking for each persons skills, and strengths are valued. Placing value on love, inclusion & comfort for each person. This working of the family will cause each person to thrive, & feel valued.

Each of these tenets were taught through a clear understanding of the principles of the book of Proverbs.

So Go With God and He will be the center of unity in your home. When His Word is guided by the Spirit in each persons life harmony is inevitable.
