Trivia:

Well its Saturday which is a day we use to get needed things done or to as the saying goes, catch up.

Believe it or not the very first product ever be scanned with a barcode was a pack of Wriggley's gum. This feat was accomplished in June 26, 1974 at a supermarket in Troy, Ohio. So as the saying goes, "Stick with it." Oh that was a bad joke but it was the best saying I could pass on.

Here's a word we don't hear used often, but lets ask it anyway. What does the word "turgid" mean? Thin, swollen; simple; or clear? Make your best guess.

Challenge:

Psalm 50:16-23 "But God says to the wicked: "Why bother reciting decrees and pretending to obey my covenant? 17 For you refuse my discipline and treat my words like trash. 18 When you see thieves, you approve of them, and you spend your time with adulterers. 19 Your mouth is filled with wickedness, and you tongue is full of lies. 20 You sit around and slander your brother--your own mother's son. 21 While you did all of this, I remained silent, But now I will rebuke you, listing all my charges against you. 22 Repent, all of you who forget me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you. 23 But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honore me. If yoiu keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God."

This last section of chapter 50 concludes with a final warning to everyone who ignores God and His existence. These verses 16-21a sound like our culture today don't they?

God repudiates those who speak statements from God's word which have no meaning to those who quote them. But rather they ignore God's instruction and warning. And at the same time look on while other steal another persons property, and even worse they approve of this contemptuous conduct.

Next, they speak filthy, vile words, along with having no conscience when their conversations are filled with lies. They approve of those who place no value on living out any action of integrity, or who ignore the most sacred human virtues, and offend the very promise of fidelity of marriage. To further offend their conscience they then go even further by speaking words of slander, and ridicule of their very own brother.

Finally in verse 22 God speaks of the extreme level of these offenses, and the only way to correct these horrible offenses. REPENTANCE is the ultimate requirement for living out these level of offenses to God, and to fail this action, will result God's response of tearing those ones who are continually living in this continual fashion. Then to be taken even further those who live in these ways, there will be no one who is willing to defend them.

The last verse returns to His provisions that are ours in Christ. He promises forgiveness, and healing, as we give thanks to Him and honor, and evidence our change of life, by living in harmony with His ways throughout the continuing days. The ultimate gift offered to us upon these acts of repentance, is the gift of salvation.

SO GO WITH GOD my dear one, not in order to earn salvation, but rather in order to enjoy fellowship with our living, caring God. He speaks these reminders to us in order to protect us from the harm that comes to our lives due to ignoring His pathway for our lives. We walk in that way out of a thankful heart, His redemptive work has provided us these joys of eternal life and communion with our Loving Heavenly Father.
